According to a study published in the Journal of Environmental Health, shoes can track in up to 421,000 different bacteria from the outside!

To name a few… E. coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Serratia ficaria – shoes were also shown to bring in harmful microorganisms from fecal matter, all of which can cause illnesses ranging from upset stomachs to serious infections.

Not only that, but outdoor toxins like lead, mold spores, pesticides, and dirt can also get tracked into your home on your shoes. These toxins accumulate over time and lead to health problems such as allergies, infections, asthma etc, especially for those with already compromised immune systems and children who spend a lot of time playing on the floor. 👶

So, next time you come home, consider taking off your shoes at the door and wearing indoor slippers instead. Make a habit of it. It truly is one of the easiest (and free!) healthy home hacks. 😊
